Lion Technologies Recycles Computers On Febuary 9th Lion Technologies Inc initiated an exciting new program that allows all members of our community to recycle their used, broken, and unwanted computer equipment; including towers, laptops, LCD monitors (No CRT Monitors), printers, cables, keyboards and mice. Computer users can drop their equipment off at the Lion Tech office at 63 N Main St in Red Lion between 10am and 6pm M-F or 10am-4pm on Sat. There is no fee for this recycling service. We do not accept CRT Monitors, DVD’s, VCR’s and other electronic equipment at this time so recycling programs held by other groups, the county and municipalities are very important. Between those recycling days held once a year usually in the spring or fall, we hope to provide an easy, convenient way to recycle computer equipment. George Sanders, President of Lion Tech, stated “I graduated from Juniata College in 1996 with a degree in Ecology (and a minor in programming, in case you are wondering how I got into IT Consulting). I have always been disappointed by the technology industry’s hazardous contribution to landfills.” It took some time for scrap dealers and recycling companies to find ways to recycle, reuse, and manage computer equipment but now Lion Tech is helping computer users reach the right resources. Pennsylvania does not have any laws requiring the recycling of computer equipment but we are just reaching the tipping point where it is expected waste from computer equipment will be growing exponentially. Over 30 million PCs were thrown out in the US last year alone. Sanders added “By initiating computer equipment recycling programs now we will remove a future burden from the government and our children.” Lion Technologies Moves On March 1st Lion Technologies started operating out of it new location at “This gives us some much needed space to grow.” Stated George Sanders, President “We did not have the room to do all the things we wanted to do. Our in-shop repair business has continued to grow and we did not have enough workstations to repair our customer’s computer at the pace we wanted. Our goal is to get computers back to customers in 48hrs and some days we did not have enough repair spaces to get all the repairs started right away.” The space was designed to double the number of repair stations and has new technology tools to keep repairs moving. Technicians have more spare parts, a place to test multiple hard drives at the same time, an upgraded ticket system, and many other enhancements. Customers and the community will be able to check out the new space soon at an open house. “We plan to have an open house in April after we have settled in to our new space and have our new signs up.” Mr. Sanders added. “We will be expanding our PC Gaming and start offering training and tutoring with our expanded space too” John McCallum said, the senior field technician at Lion Technologies. “Many of our home computer support plan customers have asked for training and I have an interest in math. We found a great tutoring system that we will be using for math tutoring for kids from kindergarten to 6th grade. I fell like we will be making a bigger and responsible impact on the community.” The space will have room for up to 20 PC’s and 5 Xbox 360’s for gaming events, training and tutoring sessions. The staff said customers can to expect 3 or 4 gaming events a month to start in May and training or tutoring sessions to start in May or June. Gamers can look forward to weekly gaming time and tournaments later in the summer. Lion Technologies does computer repair for small business and home users.
